Pierre Poilievre is under fire from his opponents following a report citing Canadian intelligence sources. Liberal Leader Mark Carney has questioned the integrity of the Conservative Party's 2022 leadership race, in which Poilievre was elected leader.
The Globe and Mail, citing Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) sources, claimed that India interfered in Poilievre's victory in the Conservative Party leadership election by raising funds and support for him within the South Asian community.
However, the report also clarified that CSIS found no evidence suggesting Poilievre or members of his inner circle were aware of the alleged actions of Indian agents and their proxies.
CSIS did not share this information with Poilievre because he has not obtained security clearance on the matter. Carney expressed surprise that Poilievre had not sought security clearance, especially considering the numerous threats facing Canada.
