The swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in Delhi is likely to take place on February 19 or 20. According to sources, out of 48 MLAs, 9 names have been shortlisted. PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and other senior party leaders will finalise key decisions regarding the new government which includes a chief minister, a council of ministers and perhaps one or two deputy chief ministers.
The BJP high command is likely to finalise the name for the Delhi CM post on Sunday, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi is back from his US visit. The last BJP chief minister of Delhi was in 1998. Since then, the BJP has been losing elections until it secured a historic comeback on February 8. The BJP returned to power after 26 years by winning 48 seats out of 70. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party lost 40 seats, while the Congress did not get a single seat.
