Babita Phogat, the former Indian wrestler whose inspiring life story was depicted in the Bollywood film Dangal, recently shared some intriguing insights about the movie. After retiring from professional wrestling, Babita has considered a foray into politics but has recently made headlines with her comments regarding the film’s financial aspects.
Despite Dangal achieving immense success ranking 20th among the highest-rated Indian films and reportedly grossing over Rs 2,000 crore globally Babita revealed that her family received only Rs 1 crore from the filmmakers.
When asked about the disparity between the film’s earnings and what her family received, she confirmed, "Yes," affirming the small amount.
When questioned if her family was disappointed with such a modest share, given the film’s massive profits, Babita emphasized that their primary goal was to earn respect. "Nahi, papa ne ek cheez kahi thi ki logo ka pyaar aur sammaan chahiye," she explained, translating to "No, my father said one thing: we want people's love and respect."
