The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 drew to a grand close today, November 28, with a star-studded closing ceremony at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa. The event, which was attended by over 4,000 film enthusiasts, marked the end of a weeklong celebration of cinema.
The highlight of the evening was the award ceremony, where acclaimed actor Vikrant Massey was bestowed with the prestigious Indian Film Personality of the Year award. A visibly moved Massey shared his gratitude with the audience, reflecting on his journey. “I used to attend IFFI as a passionate film lover, never imagining I would receive this kind of love and respect,” he said. “As we said in 12th Fail (2023), restart karna bahut zaroori hai—life has its highs and lows, but you must never give up.”
When asked to share advice for aspiring actors, Vikrant spoke candidly about the challenges faced by newcomers, particularly those from smaller towns. “I’ve noticed that many newcomers from small towns feel intimidated when they come to Mumbai. My advice is simple: Own who you are. Your worth is not defined by your clothes or your English skills. The Indian film industry is truly remarkable—if you have the talent and the work ethic, they will embrace you with open arms.”
