Pakistan’s much-loved legendary artist Talat Hussain has recently passed away at 83 in Karachi. The veteran actor took his last breath in a private hospital in Karachi and died of prolonged illness on 26 May 2024.
Ahmad Shah, the president of The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) confirmed the news of his demise. In his statement, he said, “An acclaimed actor like Talat Hussain is born after centuries.”
Hussain was known for his incredible talent and contribution in the radio, television, theatre, and cinema of Pakistan. He was honoured with many acclaimed awards including the Pride of Performance award and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's highest national literary and the country's third-highest civilian award.
Pakistan’s president Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, ministers, and other prominent figures have paid tribute to the late actor. Prime Minister Sharif respected Talat Hussain in his statement, “His services to the Pakistani television, theatre, film and radio will always be remembered. The vacuum left by his death can never be fulfilled.”
