In Punjab, the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the names of three more candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The party has fielded former cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi from Firozpur.

Meanwhile, Subhash Sharma has been given ticket from Anandpur Sahib, while Arvind Khanna will contest from Sangrur. The BJP is contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in Punjab without an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal after almost two and a half decades.

Before this, BJP has been contesting elections from Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur, three out of 13 Lok Sabha seats, the remaining seats belonged to Akali Dal. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal won two seats each.
