Federal BC RCMP officers have arrested three individuals in a drug trafficking investigation that has resulted in a massive seizure of methamphetamines over the weekend.
On Sunday, August 29, 2021, the BC RCMP Federal Serious & Organized Crime (FSOC) Major Projects team, with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team executed an operation as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. Three men have been arrested and face potential drug possession and trafficking charges. In total, approximately 600 kilograms of suspected methamphetamines have been seized equating to potentially millions of doses.
A seizure of this size is shocking, but also much too common, said Supt Richard Bergevin, Officer in Charge of FSOC Major Projects in BC. The impact these, and other illicit drugs, have on our communities, through the death and destruction of lives and families is incalculable. We continue to make every effort to stem their flow across our borders and onto our streets.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been laid. As the investigation is in its infancy, no further details will be provided at this time.
