Parole will be continued for the man convicted of helping to kill his friend's mother and grandmother in Tsawwassen more than 30 years ago.
A Parole Board of Canada decision released earlier this month says Derik Lord, who was a teen at the time of the murders but is now 48, can remain on day parole four nights a week at the home of his spouse and son, but must return to a Vancouver Island halfway house for the other three nights.
The board rejected Lord's request to visit friends of his spouse in Chilliwack, saying some of the people who gave victim impact statements at Lord's trial also travel to the same area and say they would be fearful if they ran into him.
Lord was only granted parole in 2020 because he continues to deny his role in the 1990 murders of Sharon Huenemann and Doris Leatherbarrow, which the board says adds ``complexity'' to assessing his risk.
