More than 2,000 people have died in Myanmar following a powerful earthquake that struck the country on Friday. In response to the devastating event, Myanmar's military leadership has declared a week of national mourning.

The earthquake caused significant destruction, including the collapse of over 60 mosques. Additionally, the Thai government has launched an investigation into the collapse of a 33-story building under construction in Bangkok, which was also affected by the earthquake.

Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister visited the site on Saturday and ordered a full investigation. The building, which was being developed by a joint venture that included a Chinese firm, was meant to become the new headquarters for Thailand's State Audit Office. Construction of the building had been ongoing for three years.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, was the largest to hit the region in 200 years, affecting both Myanmar and Thailand.
