The High Court has reprimanded Arvind Kejriwal, imprisoned in Tihar Jail in Delhi's liquor scam. The court said that despite being in jail, Kejriwal has put his personal interests above national interests by not resigning from the post of Chief Minister.

The High Court was hearing the delay in getting books and uniforms to more than two lakh students in Delhi Municipal Corporation schools when this comment was made.

The High Court also commented on Saurabh Bharadwaj, Urban Development Minister in the Delhi government. The court said that Saurabh has turned a blind eye to the condition of the students and is only shedding crocodile tears.

It may be noted that the counsel for the Delhi government had argued in the court that in the absence of the MCD standing committee, the consent of the Chief Minister is required to delegate powers and since Kejriwal is in custody, there is a delay.
