NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump over his stance on Ukraine. In a statement, Singh condemned the exclusion of Ukraine from peace talks involving Russia and the United States, calling it deeply wrong. He argued that this approach reflects the U.S. under Trump leaning toward divisive policies and instability.
Singh emphasized that Canada must stand firm against threats to democracy and work to promote peace.
It is notable that a high-level meeting was recently held in Saudi Arabia between Russia and the United States to address the ongoing war in Ukraine. Ukraine, however, was not invited to participate in this meeting.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also weighed in, stating yesterday that Canada and its allies overwhelmingly support Ukraine’s inclusion in any discussions aimed at resolving the conflict with Russia.
